Hi,

Has there been any update regarding the Windows App client?

Since last Friday, we have received reports that users are experiencing an issue where they are unable to connect to their Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) sessions using the Windows App (version 2.0.1186.0). As a temporary workaround, users are able to access their AVD environments successfully via the web client. I have also confirmed that connectivity works via the legacy Microsoft Remote Desktop application (version 1.2.7094.0), although this client is now out of support.

Could you please advise whether this is a known issue and if there is an estimated timeframe for resolution?

Remediate WindowsApp-CleanDowngrade.txtI’m not sure whether anyone here is still seeing this issue, but I’ve prepared a script that resolves it, and it has been working well for me so far. Because every environment is different, please review and test it. It removes the current Windows App version, cleans up stale Windows App runtime components, clears the Windows App, token, and workspace caches, and reinstalls a validated version of Windows App (2.0.964.0). You can choose a valid version of your own; I recommend going back 2–3 versions at this point. This version works well for me, and I will be slowly moving the version forward. Important: Running this script will close:

    • Microsoft Teams
    • Microsoft Outlook
    • Microsoft Copilot
    • Windows App
    • Related Microsoft authentication components
