Visual Studio Enterprise shows $150 Azure monthly credit, but Azure subscription appears to receive lower credit

I have an active Visual Studio Enterprise subscription. The Benefits page shows $150 Azure monthly credit.

The Azure benefit is already activated. When I try to activate it again, I receive the message:

"You've already activated this Visual Studio benefit and can't activate it again."

My Azure subscription is MSDN Platforms Subscription (Offer ID: MS-AZR-0062P).

However, the Azure portal appears to show a monthly credit balance that seems lower than the expected $150 monthly credit.

Could Microsoft please verify:

  1. Whether this subscription is entitled to the full $150 monthly Azure credit.
  2. Whether the benefit is being applied correctly.
  3. How I can verify the monthly credit allocation in Azure.

Thank you.

Hi Bhanu Prakash,

An active Visual Studio Enterprise subscription is generally entitled to $150 in Azure monthly credit once the Azure benefit has been successfully activated.

Since you are receiving the message "You've already activated this Visual Studio benefit and can't activate it again," it indicates that the benefit is already linked to an Azure subscription.

To verify the credit being applied, please check the following:

➜ Sign in to the Azure portal and go to Cost Management + Billing
➜ Select your MSDN Platforms Subscription (MS-AZR-0062P)
➜ Review Credits and Usage + charges to see the monthly credit allocation and consumption

If the credit shown does not match the expected amount, or if you believe the benefit is not being applied correctly, this will require verification by the Azure Subscription Support team, as they can review the subscription entitlement and billing details associated with your account.

If possible, could you share what monthly credit amount is currently displayed in the Azure portal? That may help determine whether the issue is related to the subscription benefit or how the credit is being reported.

Visual Studio Enterprise subscriptions can include up to $150/month in Azure dev/test individual credit, but the exact amount depends on the current subscription level and offer configuration. The entitlement is determined by the Visual Studio subscription level, and the Azure credit amount “depends on your subscription level” and can range between $0 and $150 per month.

When the Azure benefit is activated, it creates a specific Azure subscription (like the MSDN Platforms / Visual Studio dev/test offer). If the Visual Studio subscription level changes (upgrade, downgrade, or a new subscription ID is assigned), the link between the Visual Studio subscription and the Azure subscription breaks and a new Azure subscription is created when the benefit is re‑activated. The old subscription then becomes subject to deactivation and no longer receives new monthly credit.

    Given that:

    1. Entitlement to $150/month
      • Visual Studio Enterprise is the level that can provide up to $150/month, but the documentation states only that the amount “depends on your subscription level” and may be between $0 and $150. The exact amount for a specific subscription ID or offer (such as MS‑AZR‑0062P) is not listed in the provided documentation and must be confirmed by Visual Studio subscriptions support or Azure billing support.
    2. Whether the benefit is applied correctly
      • If the Visual Studio subscription has changed (for example, a new subscription ID was issued, or there was an upgrade/downgrade), the link to the existing Azure subscription can be broken. In that case, activating the benefit under the new subscription creates a new Azure subscription and the old one becomes subject to deactivation and stops receiving new monthly credit.
      • If the Visual Studio subscription has expired or been removed, all benefits including the monthly Azure dev/test individual credit stop. The Azure subscription can then only continue as pay‑as‑you‑go if the spending limit is removed.
      • To verify correct application and entitlement for a specific account and offer, the supported path is to contact Visual Studio subscriptions support or Azure billing support so they can review the subscription and billing details.
    3. How to verify the monthly credit allocation in Azure
      • For Visual Studio dev/test individual credit subscriptions, the key checks are:
        • Confirm that the Visual Studio subscription is active and at the expected level (Enterprise) in the Visual Studio Subscribers portal.
        • Confirm that the Azure subscription in question is the one created by activating the Visual Studio Azure benefit (and not a different subscription such as an EA or pay‑as‑you‑go subscription). When Visual Studio subscription levels change, a new Azure subscription may be created and the old one may no longer receive credits.
        • In Azure, verify whether the subscription is still operating under the dev/test individual credit model or has been converted to pay‑as‑you‑go by removing the spending limit. If converted, it will no longer receive monthly credit and will be billed at standard rates.
      • If the displayed monthly credit or charges do not match expectations, the documented escalation path is to open a billing/support request so that the billing team can review the actual credit allocation and usage on the subscription.

For a definitive confirmation of the exact monthly credit amount for the specific Visual Studio Enterprise subscription and the MS‑AZR‑0062P subscription, and to verify whether the benefit is being applied correctly, the next step is to contact Visual Studio subscriptions support or Azure billing support using the official support channels.
