    Hi @Blake Hanson

Thank you for sharing your concern.

As far as I know, the current available option for on-premises Exchange is Exchange Server Subscription Edition (SE). Microsoft offers Standard and Enterprise server editions, and each user or device that accesses the server requires the appropriate CALs. A Standard CAL is always required, while an Enterprise CAL is only needed if advanced features are required.

Microsoft has publicly confirmed a 10% increase for standalone on-premises server products effective July 1, 2025, and 15% / 20% increases for the Core CAL Suite and Enterprise CAL Suite effective August 1, 2025. Exact pricing varies by region and licensing program.

You can refer via: Licensing and pricing updates for on-premises server products coming July 2025 | Microsoft Communit…

Currently, Microsoft does not publicly disclose exact pricing for on-premises Exchange Server licenses, as costs vary based on factors like volume, region, purchase program (such as Open License, Enterprise Agreement), and whether you're buying new, renewing Software Assurance (SA), or opting for Extended Security Updates (ESU).

For the most accurate and up to date pricing information, I recommend:

Contacting Microsoft directly via your account manager or regional licensing support: Contact Volume Licensing Support

Reaching out to authorized Microsoft resellers in your region. You can refer via Find your Microsoft 365 partner or reseller

    I hope this helps.

If you have any additional concerns, feel free to comment below. I would be more than happy to assist.

Pricing details for on-premises Exchange Server licensing are not provided in the available context.

The context does describe the licensing model and editions so that options can be outlined at a high level:

    1. Server editions and capacity
    • Exchange Server is available in two editions:
      • Standard Edition: Limited to 5 mounted databases per server.
      • Enterprise Edition: Can scale up to 100 mounted databases per server.
    • The edition is defined by the product key. A valid product key can:
      • Move from Trial Edition to Standard or Enterprise.
      • Upgrade from Standard Edition to Enterprise Edition.
      • Downgrade from Enterprise to Standard only by uninstalling and reinstalling with the correct key.
    1. Licensing model
    • Exchange Server uses a Server/Client Access License (CAL) model (same model as Exchange 2010 and later):
      • Server licenses:
        • One server license per running instance of Exchange Server.
        • Available in Standard and Enterprise server editions.
      • Client Access Licenses (CALs):
        • Standard CAL
        • Enterprise CAL
        • CAL edition is independent of server edition (e.g., Enterprise CALs can be used with Standard Edition servers and vice versa).
    1. Feature and CAL considerations
    • Certain features require specific CAL levels. For example, in Exchange 2013, Data Loss Prevention (DLP) requires an Exchange Enterprise CAL.
    • Some Outlook/Exchange features (such as In-Place Archive, retention policies, IRM, site mailboxes, and DLP Policy Tips) require:
      • Appropriate Outlook license, and
      • Either Exchange Online or an on-premises Exchange Server license with corresponding CALs.
    1. Version and feature planning
    • Exchange Server 2013, 2016, 2019, and Subscription Edition differ in feature availability (for example, voice mail and some reporting features), but all share the same general Server/CAL licensing approach.
    • Feature availability tables in the context can be used to decide which Exchange version and CAL level are required for the client’s needs.

To obtain actual pricing for on-prem Exchange Server (server licenses and CALs), the client must work with a Microsoft licensing partner, CSP, or Microsoft sales using current price lists, as pricing is not specified in the provided material.
