Im trying to buy visual studio 2026 pro, but that whole process seems broken? I can add it to cart, but when i try to checkout, it just gives an error like "we cant find any microsoft account" and if i try to create a new account, i get an error like "you cant use work or education account"

Trying to call Microsoft is like expecting an answer when talking to a rock - so i gave up after 30 min on the line.

Now im locked out from work, because the community license is experied and Im not been able to buy a new version for many days.

Should this be the sign that I have to finally have to move to Jetbrain rider?

    Hi Zach,

The error message suggests there may be an issue with the Microsoft account being used during the purchase process.

A few things you can try:

    1. Verify that you are signing in with a personal Microsoft account (for example, Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, or a personal Microsoft account) rather than a work or school account.
    2. Try completing the purchase in an InPrivate/Incognito browser session.
    3. Clear your browser cache and cookies, then sign in again.
    4. Try a different browser to rule out a browser-specific issue.
    5. Confirm that the Microsoft account you are using can successfully sign in to other Microsoft services.

To help narrow down the cause, could you share:

    • The exact checkout URL you are using.
    • Whether you are signing in with a personal Microsoft account or a work/school account.
    • The complete error message shown during checkout.

With those details, the community may be able to provide more specific guidance.

    Thank you.
