Visual Studio 2017 Professional can be reinstalled by downloading it from the official “older downloads” location and then activating it with the existing product key or account.
- Go to the Visual Studio Older Downloads page and download Visual Studio 2017.
- The documentation for Visual Studio 2017 explicitly states: “To download Visual Studio 2017, see the Visual Studio Older Downloads page.”
- Run the downloaded installer and follow the setup steps to install Visual Studio 2017 Professional.
- When prompted to sign in, use the account associated with the license, or choose the option to enter the product key if required.
- If using a Visual Studio subscription, Visual Studio 2017 can also be found in the Visual Studio Subscriptions portal:
- Sign in to the Downloads page.
- Search for “Visual Studio 2017” and select the appropriate edition.
- Download the installer and install as above.
