How to get full function Microsoft 365 on a Fire HD10 Tablet?

I was able to load Microsoft 365 onto an Amazon Fire HD10. When I open the app, the core office apps (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) are not there. I have a valid subscription as part of a Family plan. How do I get the apps to show up in the Microsoft 365 shell?

A Fire HD 10 runs Fire OS, which is Amazon’s Android-based system. Microsoft 365 apps on tablets are the mobile versions, not the full Windows/Mac desktop apps. So even with a Microsoft 365 subscription, you may still be limited compared with Word/Excel/PowerPoint on a PC or Mac.

    Your realistic option is

Open the web browser and go to:

    https://www.office.com > Apps

This gives you Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, etc. in the web versions. This is probably the best option on a Fire tablet due to OS limitation.

On an Android-based device like the Fire HD10, the Microsoft 365 “shell” app (Microsoft 365 Copilot mobile app) is separate from the individual Office apps. A valid Microsoft 365 Family subscription gives access to the full mobile experience, but Word, Excel, and PowerPoint still need to be installed as separate apps if they are not integrated in the shell on that device.

To get full-function Office on the Fire HD10:

    1. Install the Office apps individually
      • From the Fire’s app store (or Android app store available on the device), install:
        • Word
        • Excel
        • PowerPoint
      • These are the same mobile apps referenced for Android phones and tablets.
    2. Sign in with the subscription account
      • Open each app (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
      • Sign in using the Microsoft account that is part of the Microsoft 365 Family subscription.
      • This associates the apps with the active subscription so the full mobile features are available (subject to the device-size and subscription rules).
    3. Use the Microsoft 365 Copilot app as a hub (optional)
      • The Microsoft 365 Copilot mobile app can be installed on Android and used to view, edit, and share files.
      • On devices where the shell does not surface the full app UIs directly, the individual apps still handle document editing once installed and signed in.
    4. Confirm subscription and plan type if features seem limited
      • Ensure the Microsoft 365 Family subscription is active and associated with the account being used to sign in.
      • Mobile apps on tablets larger than 10.1" require a qualifying Microsoft 365 subscription for full editing features; without it, only core tasks are available.

If, after installing and signing in, only limited features are available, verify that the subscription is active and that the correct account is used, then reopen the apps so they pick up the license.
