Copilot says I’ve reached my weekly Tasks limit but that was last week. AND Copilot is not showing up in Word. How can I get Copilot Tasks working again?

    Hi Gary Turner,

I understand how confusing it can be when Copilot continues to show the weekly Tasks limit message even after the expected reset period.

This message indicates that your Copilot usage has hit a weekly quota for task-related actions, and the service is temporarily limiting further requests until the quota window refreshes. These limits are managed on the service side to maintain consistent performance across users.

Since basic steps usually don’t affect this type of limit, you can consider trying an alternate entry point

    • Test Copilot from another app (e.g., Excel or Copilot web)
    • This helps confirm whether the limitation is scoped to one feature or broader usage

If the reset window has just passed, allow some additional time and retry. Copilot usage limits can vary depending on subscription type and feature usage, and they may not always reset exactly at the same time each week.

I hope this helps clarify what’s happening and gives you a clear path forward. Let me know if you need further assistance, feel free to ask me by clicking "Add Comment" or "Add Answer" if you cannot add comment so your response will be visible. Thanks for your effort.

God, I went from having a Copilot access to getting Copilot premium thinking this would help w/ limits on tasks. But this is 100% on point for Microsoft to be honest.

    1. From what I've seen there is literally no dashboard to see how many tasks you have left in X amount of time, so there's literally no way to "budget".
    2. Even if I wanted to pay to just get a project done that was abruptly stopped after hitting the limit, there's literally no way to do it.
    3. One thing that I've seen Copilot tasks do over and over again which is absolutely maddening, is even after instructing Copilot not to run a task for something I can easily do myself (updating a file), it will do it and just burn a task willy nilly. Even after making a "master prompt" doc file, and loading it into memory with tons of rules of how to run tasks (and what no NOT do), Copilot will just burn tasks for no reason. For example, I upload a file and say "do not search the Copilot/OneDrive folder for the file, I've upload the file for this task, it will still attempt to pull the file, and read it (even though I've already uploaded it) and then suddenly mark the task as complete. Seriously MSFT, maybe you should make an insider program for Copilot, because we've seen you randomly stuff it into Xbox, Notepad, and every aspect of the MSFT ecosystem whether it works on not, maybe you should actually get feedback from the community on how to improve things. What you're doing isn't working.
