Windows App on macOS Tahoe Lag

Looking for some advice in relation to the Windows App (AVD) which I have downloaded from the App Store.

I have a base 14" MacBook Pro M1. I work for Local Government (Scotland, UK) and to access work systems on my own device, I need to use the Windows App. My MacBook has all necessary updates and is running the newest version of Tahoe.

As it is used for work purposes, there is a lot of restrictions in terms of changes I can make within the desktop client. However, I find that there is a lag when using the Windows App. The lag is primarily when typing and a genuine slowness that isn't there when using my MacBook.

AI suggests that a lot of the lag could be as a result of display settings.

I am wondering if anyone has any similar experiences and is able to offer some advice on the best settings they have found?

Thanks

Ag9292 hi & thanks for join me here at Q&A portal,

lower display load first, then check Wi-Fi jitter and AVD UDP/Shortpath, on Mac this is usually display/codec/network latency, not the Mac being weak. First try Windows App settings: reduce display resolution, turn off “optimize for Retina” if available, use one monitor only, disable dynamic resolution, and avoid full-screen across multiple displays. In the remote session, turn off animations or transparency and set background to solid color. If typing lag is the main issue, test wired Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi close to router, because AVD is very sensitive to jitter even when speed looks fine. Also update Windows App from App Store and try the web client once; if web feels better, the macOS app/rendering path is the issue. Since its a managed work desktop, ask IT to check AVD connection quality/RTT and whether UDP Shortpath is enabled...rgds,

    Alex
