Additional meeting and call-related features and issues within Microsoft Teams for Education
Hi @Max Gazzardi Bilingual Solutions,
Thank you for the additional details.
Based on your description (works on iPhone and browser, but not on the Mac app and previously “Join without account” also stopped), it does strongly suggest a local macOS profile or Teams client issue, rather than a problem with your account or the meeting itself.
Please try to create a temporary new macOS user to isolate whether your current profile is causing the issue:
- Go to System Settings > Users & Groups
- Add a new local user
- Sign out and log in to the new user profile
- Open or install Teams
- Try joining one of the affected meetings
If it works in the new profile, the issue is almost certainly tied to your original macOS user environment (e.g., cache, Keychain, identity tokens, or local app data).
Here are a few workaround options you can try in the meantime:
1/ Join using Meeting ID & passcode
Ask the meeting organizer for:
- Meeting ID
- Passcode
Then in Teams: go to Calendar > “Join with an ID”
This can bypass issues related to how meeting links are handled on Mac.
2/ Force the browser instead of the Teams app
Since Teams on the web works for you, you can use this reliably:
- Open the meeting link in Safari/Chrome/Edge
- When prompted to open Teams > click Cancel
- Select “Continue on this browser”
If it still redirects to the app:
- Clear site data/cookies for:
-
teams.microsoft.com -
login.microsoftonline.com -
office.com -
microsoft.com - Then reopen in a private/incognito window.
-
If you’re working as a freelancer without an IT administrator, and the issue only occurs with meetings from those two companies, it may be helpful to reach out to their IT or admin teams and ask them to verify:
- External access settings
- Meeting policies (such as anonymous join and lobby configuration)
Regarding the May 18 update, there are no widely reported issues affecting all users at this time, and there’s no confirmed indication that this is a known bug.
If you have any questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
