To stop using the old MSN email address, either remove it from apps/devices or remove it as an alias from the Microsoft account, depending on the scenario.
- To remove the MSN account from Mail and Calendar on Windows 10
- Open the Mail or Calendar app.
- Select Settings in the lower-left corner (on a phone/tablet, select More first).
- Select Manage Accounts.
- Select the old MSN account.
- Select Delete account.
This removes the account from the Mail and Calendar apps only; the email account itself remains available via other clients or the web.
- To remove the MSN address as a sign-in alias from the Microsoft account
- Go to Manage how you sign in to your account (account alias management page).
- Sign in if prompted.
- Next to the old MSN email alias, select Remove.
Important points from the alias management rules:
- If the MSN address is an alias from a Microsoft domain (such as @msn.com), removing it permanently deletes that alias and it cannot be associated with any Microsoft account again.
- If it is currently the primary alias, a different primary alias must be chosen before it can be removed.
If the goal is to completely close the Outlook.com/MSN mailbox and associated Microsoft account, follow the Microsoft account closure process, which permanently deletes email and contacts and also removes access to other Microsoft services tied to that account.
