Last update of Teams bugged the notifications + codeblock

Hey,

How did you manage to bug Teams core functionality of having proper notifications?!
From yesterday's update, whenever I receive a notification about message in a thread, there is +1 notification in my chat as well. You can see the behaviour in the following screenshot:

Also, why is the 2nd row "almost showing" on the code block insert when there are no characters on it:

YES, I did restart Teams, but it still bugs out like this.

Please, fix the app. Thanks in advance. :)

To me this (Notification issue in Activity) sounds like an issue I also have. It happens since 1st of June 2026 Important clarification: there is a difference between the visible per-channel notification settings and the actual notification behavior.

This issue affects only one Team. Other Teams respect my notification settings. The issue occurs on both Teams desktop and Teams mobile, so it does not appear to be a local desktop-only issue.

In this affected Team, there is one custom/public channel where the notification settings behave inconsistently:

“Notify me for all new posts” is currently off.

I can change it to Activity and/or Banner and click Save, but when I reopen/check the setting, it is still off.

“Include thread replies” is currently unchecked/off.

I can enable the checkbox and click Save, but when I reopen/check the setting, it is still unchecked/off.

The third option, “Follow all new threads”, behaves differently.

I can enable/disable this slider and Save, and the setting is actually retained. I currently have it turned off after testing.

Despite the visible settings being off, I still receive Activity feed notifications for posts and replies across the affected Team, as if I were subscribed to all activity in the Team.

Therefore, the issue is not that I need help finding the notification settings. The issue is that Teams appears to ignore the configured per-channel notification settings for this Team, or my user has a stuck/corrupt backend notification subscription state for this Team/channel.

The only way to snooze notifications in Activity is to click "Leave team". I tried that, and also rejoined again, same issue still there.

How do I solve this without leaving the Team?

Additional finding: I now see the same type of unwanted Activity feed behavior in a second Team. This second Team is much less active, and I have not changed or reset notification settings there yet. Again, happening since June 1st 2026.

In this second Team, I only have General and one custom public channel visible; other channels are hidden. Messages exist in both visible channels, but the unexpected Activity feed notifications appear to come only from General.

Again, these are normal messages/replies, not @mentions, all 3 notifications-config/types are turned off for both the General and the one custom public channel I have visible.

I do not really want to touch this (Leave Team/Join again, or mangle around with notification settings), because it might be a good use case to troubleshoot without me changing anything.

The behavior shown (thread activity also incrementing the Chat badge, and the extra empty line in the code block editor) is not covered as a configurable setting in the available documentation and is consistent with a product issue/regression.

For issues like this in Microsoft Teams, the supported path is to capture it as feedback directly from the client so it reaches the product team with logs and environment details:

In the Teams desktop app, select the profile picture.
Choose Settings and more (or Settings depending on client).
Go to Help and feedback > Send feedback.
Describe the double-counting of notifications and the code block rendering issue, and submit.

If notifications themselves stop arriving or behave inconsistently beyond the badge count, verify notification configuration to rule out local settings:

In Teams, open Settings > Notifications and activity and confirm the desired notification types are enabled.
On macOS, ensure Focus/Do Not Disturb is not suppressing Teams notifications or, if needed, add Teams to Allowed Apps under System Settings > Focus > chosen focus scenario.
Still in Teams, use Settings and more > Settings > Notifications and activity and select Test notification to confirm OS-level delivery.

If the problem persists after confirming settings, continue to use in-app feedback and, if this is affecting business usage, contact support through the Microsoft Teams support channel so the behavior can be tracked as a bug.

I understand how frustrating this experience can be, especially when notifications don’t behave as expected and UI elements appear inconsistent. I’d like to clarify the current behavior in Microsoft Teams and offer some guidance.

From your description, receiving a notification for a thread in both Activity and Chat can occur depending on how the thread is configured and your notification settings.

This typically happens when:

You are @mentioned in the thread, or
You have followed the thread/post.

What you can adjust: You can refine how these notifications appear by updating your settings:

Go to Settings > Notifications and activity
Locate @mentions
- Change Channel and team @mentions from “Banner and feed” to “Feed only”
Locate Replies to followed threads and posts
- Set this to “Feed only” as well

This should limit notifications to the Activity feed and avoid duplicate alerts showing in Chat.

Regarding the code block where the second row appears partially visible even when empty this is currently expected UI behavior rather than a functional bug.

It’s related to how the editor renders spacing and line height within the code block component.

Workaround:

Adjust your Teams zoom level (for example, set it to 105% or 110%) This often resolves the visual clipping and displays the line fully.
