Uread from here fails to work!

In Teams, marking a chat message as unread (or “unread from here”) only changes how the chat appears in the list (it shows as unread) and does not guarantee automatic navigation back to that exact point in the conversation when reopening the chat. The feature is primarily a visual reminder rather than a bookmark that restores scroll position.

To mark a message or chat as unread in Teams:

• Desktop: Go to the chat, select More options (…) next to the chat or message, then choose Mark as unread. The chat will appear unread the next time it is opened, but Teams may still open at the end of the conversation.
• Mobile: Swipe left on Chat and tap Mark as unread (or the equivalent option depending on the view). Again, this affects the unread state, not the scroll position.

Given the current documented behavior, the “unread” marker is not a reliable way to jump back to a specific point in a long thread. For now, the practical use is to flag the chat so it stands out as needing attention, not to resume exactly where it was left.

If this behavior is critical, the appropriate next step is to submit product feedback from within Teams (Help → Give feedback) so the product team can consider improving how “unread from here” works, for example by restoring scroll position when reopening the chat.
