Is there a way to retrieve deleted items from within the Library (Real Time); or view what has been deleted?

    In most cases, deleted files can still be retrieved and reviewed. However, this is handled through the storage service behind Microsoft Teams, which is SharePoint or OneDrive, rather than from a dedicated deleted items view inside the Teams Library itself. 

    Below are the scenarios that align with your situation and how you can proceed: 

    Notes: 

    • Deleted files are retained for up to 93 days by default before permanent deletion. After this period, files cannot be recovered. 
    • Access to Recycle Bin or advanced recovery options depends on organizational permissions. If access is restricted, contacting your IT administrator is recommended.

    Scenario 1: Files stored in a Teams channel (SharePoint Library) 

    When files are deleted from a Teams channel, they are moved to the SharePoint Recycle Bin and can be restored within the retention period. 

    Open Microsoft Teams. 

    Go to the relevant Team and select the channel. 

    Open the Files tab > Click Open in SharePoint.

    In SharePoint, select Recycle bin from the left panel. 

    Locate the deleted file. 

    Select the file and click Restore.

    Restored files will return to their original location. 

    Scenario 2: Files stored in OneDrive via Teams 

    If the file was accessed or stored through OneDrive in Teams, it follows OneDrive behavior. 

    Open Microsoft Teams. 

    Go to the OneDrive app > Select Recycle bin > Find the deleted file > Click Restore. 

    The file will be restored to its previous location. 

    Scenario 3: File not found in the Recycle Bin 

    If the file is no longer visible in the standard Recycle Bin, it may still exist in the second stage Recycle Bin. 

    Please note that access to this level typically requires site collection administrator permissions. 

    Open SharePoint > Go to Recycle bin > Scroll down and select Second-stage recycle bin > Locate the file > Restore it.

    Workaround: Restore the entire library or OneDrive to a previous point in time 

    • Restoring will revert the entire OneDrive or library to an earlier state within the last 30 days, undoing all changes made after that point. 
    • Any files or changes created after the selected restore time will be moved to the Recycle Bin, not permanently deleted, so they can still be recovered if needed.
