Excel Mobile: how to cancel the Copied selection

In desktop Excel if I highlight a cell range and Copy it to the clipboard, then Paste it elsewhere, the original cell range stays selected (indicated by an animated outline). To cancel the selection I can press the Escape key.

In Excel Mobile if I Paste a selection, the Copied cell range's highlighting disappears...yet I can still Paste it to other locations. (That's OK but unexpected behavior, as I no longer have a visible reference to what was Copied to the clipboard.)

HOWEVER, it seems there is no way to cancel the selection (remove the animated outline) other than (A) Pasting somewhere, or (B) making selecting another cell range and Copying it to the clipboard. In other words, in Excel Mobile there is no equivalent to pressing the Escape key to cancel/remove the selection highlighting of a Copied cell range.

Am I correct in this, or missing something?

Thanks, but I don't see "3 dots at the bottom" anywhere....I'm in Excel Mobile on Android. Are you by chance talking about Excel 365 instead?

Hi! When you are in edit mode, to cancel the selection, you can press the 3 dots at the bottom to open the edit panel. This will cancel the current selection, but you will still be able to paste that selection.
