Hi team,

May I please confirm if this is UI issue. I have notice that the PDF icon from ODB and SPO is like below.

But in teams chat, it shows like below

May I please confirm if there's an update on the icon for PDF?

Thank you!

Good day @Deyson A

I checked this from my side as well, and I can confirm that I’m seeing the same behavior you described. The PDF icon does appear differently in OneDrive for Business and SharePoint compared to how it shows in a Teams chat.   User's image

Based on what I know, this is considered normal behavior. Different Microsoft 365 surfaces such as OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams use their own file type icon libraries from Microsoft, such as Fluent UI or Office UI Fabric. Because each surface is designed for a different experience, the way file icons are displayed can vary. As a result, even though it’s the same PDF file, the icon can look different depending on whether you’re viewing it in Teams, OneDrive, or SharePoint.

Normally, a UI problem would only be suspected if the icon was broken, failed to load, or appeared corrupted. In this case, the icon is displaying properly and the file is still correctly identified and accessible, so there’s no indication of an issue.

Thank you so much for paying close attention to this and taking the time to ask. This is something that very few people usually notice, and I hope this response will be helpful not only for you but also for other users who may have the same concern.

The different PDF icons seen in OneDrive for Business/SharePoint versus Teams chat are expected and not a UI bug.

Microsoft 365 experiences can use different icon sets depending on the surface (for example, Teams vs. OneDrive vs. SharePoint). These icons come from the Fluent UI file type and product icon libraries, and each app can choose which Fluent UI icons to display. As a result, the same file type (PDF) can appear with slightly different icons in different Microsoft 365 endpoints while still being correct and supported.

There is no action required; this is normal behavior driven by the shared Fluent UI icon system rather than an error.
