Been like this all day. This is getting old since this isn't the first time this has happened. When will it be fixed?

Stock prices in Excel 365 use online linked data types and external data providers. When the message indicates the server is temporarily having problems, it means the external service or a required resource cannot be reached, which is a remote data source error.

This type of issue is on the service side and there is no way to force a fix from within Excel. The only available actions are:

    1. Turn off Automatic Refresh for the linked data types so the workbook remains usable without repeated errors, then refresh manually later when the service is working again. See Automatically refresh linked data types from the context article.
    2. Retry later; remote errors such as “The server is not responding and may be undergoing maintenance” or “Service error” are often transient and resolve when the service is restored.
    3. Verify general internet connectivity and that no network or permission changes are blocking access, since connectivity issues can also cause these refresh errors.

There is no published timeline in the context for when a specific outage or “server temporarily having problems” condition will be fixed; resolution depends on the external data provider restoring service.
