Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

There was actually a recent known issue with Outlook/Hotmail, especially affecting iOS/iPad devices. Microsoft has already fixed the service issue, but some users still need to re-enter their password to get emails syncing again. Source: https://portal.office.com/servicestatus

Right now, most cases like yours are fixed by re-adding or updating the account.

If you’re using Apple Mail (default app):

    • Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts
    • Tap your email account
    • Tap Account Settings / Password
    • Re-enter your password
    • Save, then open Mail again

If that doesn’t work, remove and add the account again.

Hotmail accounts are supported on Apple devices, but they must be added using the correct provider and modern authentication.

On each Apple device where Hotmail stopped working in the Apple Mail app:

    1. Remove the existing Hotmail/Outlook.com account
      1. Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts.
      2. Tap the Hotmail/Outlook.com account.
      3. Tap Delete Account.
    2. Re‑add the account using Outlook.com (to enable modern auth)
      1. Go to Settings > Mail.
      2. Tap Accounts > Add Account.
      3. Choose Outlook.com (do not choose “Other”/manual POP/IMAP).
      4. Sign in with the Hotmail credentials and complete the sign‑in flow.
    3. If it still fails on iOS/iPadOS
      1. Remove the account again.
      2. Go to Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data.
      3. Reboot the device.
      4. Add the account back again as Outlook.com and complete sign‑in.

If using a non‑Apple mail app on any device, ensure it supports modern authentication for Outlook.com accounts. If it does not, use the Outlook app instead.
