Hi @Rae Burnet,

Thank you for sharing the details of your situation. It is helpful to know that the user can already see the channels, as this suggests their team membership is likely in place.

After reviewing your scenario and the guidance generated by Q&A Assist, the steps provided there appear to be appropriate for troubleshooting this behavior.

When files do not appear in a channel while everything else loads normally, it is often related to how the Files (or Shared) tab connects to the underlying SharePoint library, or how access is being resolved on the user’s device. With this in mind, you may consider following the recommended checks from the Q&A Assist suggestions to see if they help in your situation.

If the behavior continues after trying the suggestions, it may be helpful for your IT administrator to review the user’s access and, if appropriate, raise a support request with Microsoft for further investigation. A technical support engineer can then initiate a remote session, review backend settings, and run diagnostics. If needed, they can escalate the case to specialized engineering teams who are well-equipped to perform advanced troubleshooting and provide targeted solutions.

As moderators, our primary goal is to provide helpful guidance and support through general troubleshooting steps. While we don’t have access to internal systems or administrative tools required to resolve account-specific or backend issues, we truly appreciate your understanding of these limitations. We genuinely hope the information we share helps point you in the right direction, and we're always here to assist as much as we can within our scope.

I hope this information is useful. Thank you for taking the time to raise this question. If you need any further clarification or assistance, please feel free to leave a comment under this post.

Channel files in Teams are backed by SharePoint and should appear on the Files (or Shared) tab of each channel. Use these checks and fixes on the new computer:

    1. Verify files exist in the channel library
On a working user’s device (or in the browser):
      • Go to Teams.
      • Open the same team and channel.
      • Select the Files (or Shared) tab and confirm the files are visible there.
If files are missing for everyone, the issue is with the channel’s SharePoint folder (see step 4).
    2. Check the correct tab and team/channel
      On the new computer:
      • In Teams, select Teams on the left.
      • Open the same team and channel where files are known to exist.
      • At the top, select the Files (or Shared) tab.
Files shared in that channel should appear here. If the user is looking only in OneDrive or another team/channel, they won’t see the expected files.
    3. Use OneDrive “Quick access” to locate channel files
      • Select OneDrive on the left side of Teams.
      • In Quick access, browse files located in specific Teams channels and confirm the channel’s files appear there.
      • Also check SharedWith you to see files shared with that user from the team.
    4. Check if the channel’s SharePoint folder was renamed, deleted, or unsynced
If other users see files but this user does not, or if the channel shows an empty library unexpectedly, verify the backing SharePoint folder:
      • In Teams, select Teams.
      • Open the affected channel.
      • Select the Files/Shared tab → More commandsOpen in SharePoint.
      • In SharePoint, open the Details pane and check Activity to see if the folder was renamed or deleted.
      • If renamed, rename it back to the original channel folder name.
      • If the folder is present but not synced, in the channel’s Files/Shared tab select Sync to re-establish sync.
    5. Confirm the user’s membership and channel type
      • Ensure the user is a member of the team and, if it is a private or shared channel, that they are explicitly added to that channel.
      • Files in channels are only visible to members of that team/channel.
    6. Try Teams in a browser
      • Have the user sign in to Teams in a web browser and open the same team/channel → Files/Shared tab.
      • If files appear in the browser but not the desktop app, sign out of the desktop app, close it fully, and sign back in. If needed, reinstall Teams on the new computer.

If after these steps the Files/Shared tab still shows no content only for this user, involve a Microsoft 365 admin to check the underlying SharePoint library permissions for that user.
