In Outlook on the web and the new Outlook for Windows, adding notes directly into the body of a received meeting and saving them without sending an update is no longer supported for external calendar items; the meeting body is effectively read-only in that scenario.
For meetings where the body is read-only, use one of these alternatives for personal notes instead of editing the invite body:
- Take notes in Microsoft Teams for the meeting.
- Take linked notes in OneNote for the meeting.
- Create a separate appointment on the calendar (for example, at the same time as the meeting) and store personal notes there.
These approaches avoid the need to send an update to all attendees while still letting notes be kept for the meeting.
