One Note app stopped working completely on an Android device.

I have been using OneNote for my uni notes for several years now, and basically, most of my notes are there, and I use them daily.

But for the past few days, the app on my Android tablet has not worked. It still works on my phone and on my computer, but one day it just stopped working on my tablet, which is the device I use for school. Now I have tried everything - clearing cache, deleting all app data, restarting my device, reinstalling the app. Nothing works. The only thing that happens after I open the app is a black screen with the purple OneNote logo in the middle and a loading indicator. But it never loads.

Someone said that it might be the result of the latest update, but that doesn't really help me since I have no idea how to deal with this problem. Please, can anybody help me? I am kinda dependend on my tablet and notes for school (that's why I got the tablet after all).

Recently, several users have reported that Office applications on Android, especially on Samsung devices, are not working as expected. Since you selected the Android tag, could you please try the exact steps below and let me know the results?

Settings > Search for "Android System Webview" > App Details In Store > Remove Updates
Reboot
Settings > Search for "Android System Webview" > App Details In Store > Update.

Note: If "Android System Webview" doesn't appear in the app list, go to: Settings > Google > All services > System Services > Select "Android System Webview"
Reboot
Launch Teams/Outlook & log in.

Hello Gabriel,

Thank you for giving me the link to the other person's problem as well as instructions on what I can do. I followed everything; however, it has not helped at all. The result is still the same: a blank screen with the OneNote logo in the middle, which never loads. Is there anything else I can do? Or do I have to wait till the next update and hope that it will solve the problem? I am using a Xiaomi tablet, and I really do need it every day for uni, so I'd love to be able to use it as soon as possible :/

May I ask if you have recently updated the OS on your tablet? Additionally, could you please share the exact OS version and the model of your Xiaomi tablet so I can better understand the scenario?

Based on my experience, OneNote on Android tablets can sometimes behave differently compared to other devices, and certain features or layouts may be limited on tablet versions.

As a workaround, you may consider the following:

Try installing an older version of OneNote to check whether the issue is related to a recent update.

Alternatively, you can use OneNote via a web browser on your tablet. For a more complete experience, you may switch the browser to Desktop view, as the mobile view may have limited functionality.
