Good afternoon all,

I was finishing a power point assignment, but I ended up clicking on a previously saved version of it, so now, I am unable to find my finished version of my assignment. Of course Microsoft will not answer their support phone, and I am not finding anything helping me. I am looking for a way to enable the version history, as I am doing so on my iPad. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks Lin advance.

    Hi @Rion Sellers,

Based on your sharing, I haven't clearly understood the situation you are experiencing so could you provide more detailed information about your request? I appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

    • Where was the file saved (on your local storage, OneDrive, On My iPad, etc.)?
    • When you mentioned "I was finishing an assignment", do you mean you are saving the finishing file but mistakenly clicking the old version
    • When you clicked the old version of your file, was you prompted with Save or Save As popup window?
    • Have you tried opening PowerPoint and look in the Recent-open file list yet? Does the finishing file exist there?

Please understand that my initial response may not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. I look forward to hearing from you.

On iPad, Version History is available only if the PowerPoint file is stored in OneDrive or SharePoint and has been saving there (with AutoSave) while being edited.

To try to get back the finished version of the assignment:

    1. Confirm the file is in OneDrive or SharePoint
      • In PowerPoint for iPad, open the file from the OneDrive or SharePoint location where it is stored (not just “On my iPad”).
    2. Open Version History from the file title
      • With the presentation open, tap the file name at the top of the window.
      • Tap Version history.
      • A list of prior versions should appear if the file has been saved online.
    3. Open and restore the correct version
      • Tap an earlier version in the list to open it in a separate (read‑only) window.
      • If that version is the finished assignment, use Restore (or save a copy) so it becomes the current version.

If the file was never stored in OneDrive/SharePoint, or Version History shows no earlier versions, there is no built‑in way to recover a different version of that same file on iPad.
