Conversations involving multiple participants, allowing collaboration and information sharing in Teams
In Teams chats, right-click paste can be limited or show only options like “Select all,” especially after recent updates. Use these workarounds and checks:
- Use keyboard shortcuts instead of right-click
- Paste: Ctrl + V
- Copy: Ctrl + C
- Paste as plain text (often avoids formatting issues): Ctrl + Shift + V
- If using Teams in a browser (Teams for the web)
- The browser may be blocking clipboard access.
- In Edge:
- Select the lock icon / View site information in the address bar.
- Under “Permissions for this site,” find “Clipboard.”
- Set it to “Allow.”
- In Chrome:
- Select the View site information button in the address bar.
- Find “Clipboard.”
- Toggle it On to allow clipboard access.
- If pasting URLs and they look shortened
- Teams may automatically shorten long URLs by design. To avoid extra formatting, use Ctrl + Shift + V to paste as plain text.
If the issue persists in the desktop app, test in Teams on the web (same account) to see if copy/paste works there. If it does, reinstalling or updating the desktop client is recommended.
