Hi Irelia BOSCH,
In many cases, the update process is still running in the background, even if the progress bar doesn’t move for a while. Sometimes large updates or cumulative patches can take longer than expected, especially if the system is applying changes to many files. The first thing I recommend is to give it more time, if possible, let the update run for at least an hour before assuming it’s frozen.
If the system truly doesn’t progress, you can try restarting into Safe Mode and then rebooting normally, which often allows Windows to complete the update. Another option is to boot into the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) and run the “Startup Repair” or “Uninstall Updates” option to roll back the last patch. Clearing the SoftwareDistribution folder can also help if updates are corrupted, but this should be done carefully to avoid losing update history.
It’s also a good idea to check that your drivers and BIOS are up to date, since outdated firmware can sometimes cause update hangs. If you’re running Windows Server or a business environment, using WSUS or Endpoint Manager to control updates can prevent these issues in the future. For home users, simply ensuring you have enough disk space and letting the update finish without interruption usually resolves the problem.
