Legacy Outlook version

Legacy Outlook for Mac is the older Outlook client included with Office/Outlook for Mac (for example Outlook 2019/2021/2024 or Microsoft 365 for Mac) that is being replaced by the latest Outlook for Mac experience.

The exact version number of Legacy Outlook for Mac on a device is not a single fixed value; it depends on the specific Office/Outlook build installed. To see the precise version number:

1. Open Outlook on the Mac.
2. On the menu bar at the top of the screen, select Outlook (next to the Apple logo).
3. Select About Outlook.
4. The dialog that opens shows the full Outlook version information.

If Outlook is provided through a Microsoft 365 subscription, the version dialog will not show a “year” (such as 2019 or 2021), only the build number.

Note that Microsoft is ending support for Legacy Outlook for Mac against Exchange Online mailboxes in October 2026; the newer Outlook for Mac experience remains supported.
