Additional settings-related features and issues within Microsoft Teams Free
Hi Rizwan Khan,
I understand you want to remove the blurred background in Microsoft Teams, but it still looks blurred after you change the settings.
I reviewed the Q&A Assist answer, and the core guidance is correct: in Teams meetings you can turn off background effects by selecting None (either before joining from the pre-join screen, or during the meeting from the video effects/background effects menu). Have you had a chance to try those steps yet, and if so, what device are you using (Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, or web)?
If you already selected None and the background still appears blurred, here are a couple of additional things worth checking:
- Confirm the effect is set to None for that meeting session: Background settings can persist across meetings until changed, so it’s helpful to re-open the effects panel after joining and verify None is still selected.
- Check whether Windows is applying camera blur outside of Teams: On some Windows 11 devices, Windows Studio Effects can apply “Background effects” (including blur) at the system level, which can affect any app using the camera, not just Teams. If that’s enabled, turning Teams to None may not fully remove blur until Windows Studio Effects background effects are turned off as well. Reference: Windows Studio Effects - Microsoft Support
- If you’re on Linux or an optimized virtual desktop (VDI): Microsoft notes that background effects aren’t available in certain setups (for example Linux, or Teams through optimized virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI)). In those scenarios, the background options may not behave the same way as on the standard desktop app.
For reference, the official steps for changing background effects (including selecting None to turn effects off) are here: Change your background in Microsoft Teams meetings - Microsoft Support
Hope this helps. Share your platform and whether you’re using the desktop app or a browser, and I can tailor the next steps more precisely.
