New Outlook compose does not offer spelling suggestions for plaintext

hello,

I posted in a separate message that I was having the same problem as that OP. @Hornblower409 suggested that I post a fresh message. I realise (based on their reply) that my statement was unclear. I indicated that the spellchecker does not work for messages composed with plain text. They indicated that the red underline does appear. I agree that is the case so I can see my spelling errors. However the right click for suggested corrections does not offer any. If I repeat with HTML composed message then the right click offers correct spellings.

Mark

In new Outlook for Windows, spelling, grammar, and style suggestions (including right‑click correction menus) are provided by Microsoft Editor. Editor works fully when composing in formats that support its features (such as HTML). In plain text compose, only basic indication of misspelled words (red underlines) is available; the richer Editor suggestion experience, including right‑click correction lists, is not provided.

To get right‑click spelling suggestions, compose the message in HTML (or another supported format) so that Editor can fully function:

    1. Start a new email in new Outlook.
    2. Ensure the message is composed in a format that supports Editor (for example, HTML).
    3. On the Message tab, in the Options group, select Editor to open the Editor pane and review categorized spelling and grammar issues.
    4. Use the underlines and Editor pane to apply corrections.

If composing must remain in plain text, use the red underlines as indicators and manually correct the text, or temporarily switch to HTML to use Editor suggestions, then convert the content back to plain text before sending.
