Excel online version deleted my sheet and I can't recover it in version history or undo

Excel for the web cannot undo a deleted sheet with the standard Undo command once the action is committed, and Office Scripts or other automated actions also cannot be undone with Excel’s Undo. Recovery depends on whether a previous version of the workbook exists in OneDrive or SharePoint.

Use Version History from Excel or from OneDrive/SharePoint to try to restore the workbook to a point before the sheet was deleted:

Option 1 – From within Excel (file stored in OneDrive/SharePoint)

1. Open the workbook in Excel (web or desktop).
2. Go to File > Info.
3. Select Version History.
4. In the Version History pane, select an older version (from before the sheet was deleted) to open it.
5. If the sheet is present in that version, select Restore to roll the file back to that version.

Note: Restoring a previous version replaces the current file; any edits made after that version will be lost.

Option 2 – From OneDrive or SharePoint (Excel for the web)

1. Navigate in OneDrive or SharePoint to the folder where the workbook is stored.
2. Right‑click the workbook and select Version history.
3. In the Version history panel, choose a version saved before the sheet was deleted.
4. Select the three dots (…) or dropdown next to that version and choose Restore.

If no earlier version exists that still contains the sheet, there is no built‑in way to recover just that deleted sheet.
