At around 4 Pm PST March 31 started receving this error on all models

status code: 400, status: 400 Bad Request, message: Your request contains invalid content filter policy. Please provide a valid policy.

Could you please adivce what has changed?

This error usually means there is a problem with the content filter policy linked to your Azure OpenAI or Foundry deployment, not with your prompt or your code.

Here is how you can troubleshoot this in simple terms.

First, understand what is happening. Every request goes through Azure’s built‑in content safety checks. If the policy configuration itself is invalid, the request is rejected before it even reaches the model. That is why this error can appear even for normal or safe prompts.

Common reasons this happens are: The deployment is referencing a custom content filter policy that was changed, deleted, or not fully configured One or more required categories like hate, sexual, violence, or self‑harm is missing in the policy The policy was created using a preview schema but the deployment is using a different API version The policy exists in the project but is not correctly linked to the deployment

What usually fixes the issue quickly: Go to Azure OpenAI Studio or Foundry portal Check which content filter policy is attached to the deployment If you are using a custom policy, switch back to the Microsoft default content filter After changing the policy, redeploy the model so the policy binding is refreshed Once redeployed, retry the same request

Things that normally do not help: Retrying the same request again and again Changing SDKs or client libraries Changing the model or region while keeping the same broken policy

One important thing to note: This error is not about quota, region capacity, or prompt text. It is a validation failure caused by the filter policy configuration itself. [oneuptime.com], [microsoftl....github.io]

In most community cases, going back to the default filter and redeploying the model resolves the issue completely.

We have prepared for this for more than a YEAR. It's life-or-death situation here.

This April Fools day joke is not funny at all!

How is the verification going? Since 2am ?

How many models are stopped ?

In my case it's Kimi-k2.5. It doesn't work even in the playground - same error in the playground.

Some models still work, but I don't plan to change the model.

Hi,

I had the same issue this morning. I found a solution by creating a new Content Filter in the Guadtrails + Controls tab.
You can adjuste the level of filtering, create the content filter and apply it to your deployments. And then it should work.

In my cases, I had the issue with the "DefaultV2" content filter and a Custom one which deactivate all the filtering. I don't know what happened on Foundry, but it is a major issue.

Open AI model does not seems to be impacted though

Sorry for the trouble. It seems to be transient regression issue on backend.

Most of the relevant issues to seem to be mitigated state now.

Workaround

Please replace the concerned content filters with new content filter with new threshold setting as Nicolas SIMONAZZI suggested and share your observation

Going through the existing tickets and checking with Product group on the same.

Shall keep you posted on the same.

Thank you for confirming that you are able to overcome the issue by replace with new content filters on Deep Seek 1 model.

Sharing as work around for other community members to reduce down time.
