As a OneNote user for 14 years, I've seen more features stripped than added. It's really frustrating. I wish OneNote for desktop had page previews and I wish the iPad version had a 2-finger tap undo like every other writing app. I wish search could be specific. I have a whole list. I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm just legitimately wondering if Microsoft cares about OneNote at all.

Adding wishes here is like hollering into a hole. These Communities are hosted by Microsoft but are not monitored by Microsoft staff. Those who respond here are other users, many of which are paid outsource & others who are volunteer contributors [In addition to the newly introduce AI bot].

If you wish to have your comments seen by the development group use Help> Feedback in the menu bar of the respective program. And yes, features & enhancements requested by users quite frequently are implemented. But that doesn't mean that a squadron of software engineers jump to address every request. There are numerous factors taken into consideration such as volume of demand, feasibility & cost just to mention a few.

Microsoft continues to actively develop and ship features for OneNote across platforms, including Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and the web. The product is not in maintenance-only mode.

    From the available information:

    • OneNote on all supported platforms is “actively developing” and “regularly updated” with new features and improvements.
    • For Windows, the OneNote desktop app is the primary focus going forward. It is installed by default with Microsoft 365 and Office 2019, and it continues to receive new feature updates.
    • OneNote for Windows 10 is in maintenance and will reach end of support in October 2025; the recommendation is to move to the OneNote desktop app, which is where new feature work is focused.
    • Other clients (Mac, iOS, Android, web) are also stated to receive updates about once a month.

The specific features mentioned (page previews in desktop, two‑finger tap undo on iPad, more granular search) are not listed in the provided material, so there is no documented confirmation here that those particular requests have been implemented. However, the official guidance explicitly states that:

    • OneNote support aligns with Office 2019 support dates (through October 14, 2025 for extended support), and
    • Additional premium value for Microsoft 365 subscribers in OneNote is planned for 2025.

For ongoing improvements or missing capabilities, Microsoft directs users to submit feedback through the built‑in feedback channels; this is the supported route for influencing the feature backlog.
