My subscription is restricted to certain regions. I need to either (a) enable West Europe, or (b) get a list of allowed regions so I can proceed with deployments

I can't create vm, vr, resources, network, or even know what regions that I allowed by bash (because the bash is also blocked and needs any of these to setup)
this is the error:

Subscription: Azure for Students Resource group: Error details Code: RequestDisallowedByAzure was disallowed by Azure: This policy maintains a set of best available regions where your subscription can deploy resources. The objective of this policy is to ensure that your subscription has full access to Azure services with optimal performance. Should you need additional or different regions, contact support..

    Hello

Thank you for reaching out and for sharing the detailed error information.

From the details provided, we understand that you are encountering the error "RequestDisallowedByAzure" while attempting to create resources in the West Europe region.

This behavior is expected for subscriptions such as Azure for Students, where deployments are restricted by Azure Policy to a predefined set of allowed regions. These restrictions are managed by Microsoft and cannot be modified at the subscription level.

    Please note the following:

    • The West Europe region is not included in the allowed regions for your current subscription.
    • Due to these built-in policy limitations, resource creation (including Cloud Shell storage) in this region will be blocked.

    Recommended next steps:

We recommend attempting deployment in other regions available in the Azure Portal (only supported regions will be listed during resource creation)

If you require access to specific regions such as West Europe, you may need to upgrade your subscription to a Pay-As-You-Go model. This will remove such region restrictions and provide full access to Azure services and regions.

You can upgrade your subscription from the Azure Portal by navigating to: Subscriptions → Select your subscription → UpgradeReference: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/governance/policy/overview

    Fix the "RequestDisallowedByPolicy" error

Resolve errors for request disallowed by policy

Please find the documentation to raise support request:

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any queries in comments

    Hi,

Azure for Students restricts which regions you can deploy resources to. Typically you are restricted to five different regions, and these vary for each person.

Please navigate to Azure Policy -- Authoring -- Assignments using link below:

    https://portal.azure.com/#view/Microsoft_Azure_Policy/PolicyMenuBlade/~/Assignments

Click on assignment named Allowed resource deployment regions

    User's image

Examine Allowed locations Parameter value for list of regions, similar to below (regions in screenshot are different than yours):

    User's image

The regions shown in your Parameter value are the ones you are allowed to deploy resources to. Please try to create resources in one of these regions and let me know the results.

Please click Accept Answer and upvote if the above was helpful.

    Thanks.
