Gaining Access To Sonnet 4.6 Model in Foundry

Hello,

I’m seeking clarification on two quota requests I have submitted for access to the Sonnet 4.6 model within Azure AI Foundry for the UK South and West Europe regions.

Both requests have been rejected, but the rejection does not make clear why. I need to understand whether:

the rejection is due to current regional capacity constraints, or

my subscription / account is not eligible for access to this model.

This distinction is very important because it is currently blocking part of my product from going live.

Could you please confirm:

whether Sonnet 4.6 is currently unavailable in UK South and/or West Europe due to capacity,

whether my account or subscription type is restricted from receiving quota,

whether there are any eligibility requirements I have not met,

and whether there is any route to gain access to this model, either through another request path, region, subscription type, or approval process.

At the moment, I have applied twice and been rejected twice without enough detail to understand whether I should keep trying, change region, change subscription, or stop planning around this model altogether.

I would really appreciate a clear explanation of the reason for rejection and the practical next steps available to me.

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A .Thank you for reaching out.

The quota rejections are not related to subscription eligibility. Claude Sonnet 4.6 is currently not available for deployment in UK South or West Europe. At this time, the model is only enabled in a limited set of regions, specifically East US 2 and Sweden Central.

Because the model is not enabled in the requested regions, quota requests are automatically rejected, even though the rejection message does not explicitly call this out.

There are no additional eligibility requirements to meet for this model. Access is governed by regional availability and provider‑managed capacity. To proceed, deployment would need to target a currently supported region or planning should avoid dependency on this model until regional expansion occurs.

Hi Simon,

From the documentation Sonnet 4.6 is only available in East US 2 or Sweden Central. Have you tried requesting quota from one of those regions?

Below is excerpt from documentation:

Prerequisites

An Azure subscription with a valid payment method. If you don't have an Azure subscription, create a paid Azure account.

Access to Microsoft Foundry with appropriate permissions to create and manage resources.

A Microsoft Foundry project created in one of the supported regions: East US2 or Sweden Central.

Foundry Models from partners and community require access to Azure Marketplace to create subscriptions. Ensure that you have the permissions required to subscribe to model offerings.

Contributor or Owner role on the resource group to deploy models. For more information, see Azure RBAC roles.

Well I have a GPT deployment in Sweden. It wouldn't let me deploy there. Am I right in thinking I need a different deployment for that? I have just applied for a requested quota in Sweden for the Sonnet model

Hi. I have now yes. Given how smooth Azure normally is, this process is a real let down. I have (3 times!) for different models had to provide proof of the company ownership.

That took over a day to come throguh.

THEN I have email the quote team and thats been over 24 hours without response. Microsoft can do much better than this guys.

I've been trying for over a week to get access to a model that I need to get my company live.
