Managing and enforcing security policies for devices and apps to protect organizational data through Intune
To stop charges, the subscription’s recurring billing must be turned off or the subscription must be cancelled in the Microsoft account or admin center it was purchased under.
If this is a personal Microsoft subscription (purchased with a Microsoft account):
- Go to the Services & subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the same Microsoft account used to start the trial.
- Find the subscription related to the Authenticator/offer that is being charged.
- Select Manage.
- If available, choose Cancel and follow the prompts. If Cancel is not shown, select Turn off recurring billing so it will not renew and no further weekly charges occur.
If this is a business/tenant subscription (purchased through Microsoft 365 for business):
- Determine the billing account type and required role as described in Before you begin.
- Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?linkid=2024339 and sign in as a billing admin/owner.
- In Billing → Your products (or Subscriptions in Simplified view), select the subscription that corresponds to the Authenticator/offer.
- Follow the cancellation path based on billing account type:
- MCA billing account:
- If within 7 days of start/renewal, select Cancel subscription under Subscription status, choose a reason, and confirm. A prorated credit/refund is processed within 1–2 days.
- If more than 7 days have passed, select Cancel subscription, then choose edit the recurring billing settings, set to Off, and Save to prevent renewal.
- MOSA billing account:
- Select the subscription and use Cancel subscription. If cancelled after start/renewal, a prorated credit/refund is applied in the next billing cycle.
- MCA billing account:
If the subscription was purchased through a third party (for example, app store, retailer, or partner):
- If purchased from a retailer or reseller (e.g., Amazon, Best Buy), contact that seller directly to cancel and stop billing.
- If purchased via Google Play or Apple App Store, use their support and refund flows as described in the context.
If cancellation or recurring billing options are not visible, or the wrong account might be in use:
- Confirm sign-in with the same Microsoft account that started the trial.
- If still unable to cancel, use the guided support or contact Microsoft Billing Support as indicated in the referenced articles to have an agent review and stop the subscription.
Cancelling or turning off recurring billing stops future charges; the Microsoft account itself remains and can still be used.
