I have been charged $19.99 for microsoft. I have not had an account since 2019 during my work. I have been retired since that time. I do not have an account so please refund my money. None of the choices that I had to make below are applicable.

Hey there! Nice to meet you!

Please be advised that unless the account owner is able to access the account where the charge occurred, subscription cancellation/refund is not possible, and Microsoft personnel cannot retrieve this information.

You mentioned that you do not have a Microsoft account, so you shouldn't have this unknown charge.

In this case, you'll need to contact your financial institution/bank directly to dispute it, and they may process a refund, as this would be considered a fraudulent charge.

You may also need to have your card blocked and request a new one.

Thank you for your understanding! Please let me know if you need anything else.

    Best regards,

    Darhyl

The charge must be handled through Microsoft account billing and support; community forums cannot access or adjust billing.

Follow these steps to investigate and request a refund:

    1. Investigate what the charge is for
      • Go to the Manage your payments page from your Microsoft account dashboard: Manage your payments.
      • Use the guidance in How to investigate a billing charge from Microsoft to identify which subscription or purchase the $19.99 relates to.
    2. Check for any active subscriptions
      • Sign in at Subscriptions.
      • Look for any Microsoft 365 or other subscriptions that may still be active under any Microsoft account that might be associated with the card that was charged.
      • If a subscription is found and you want to stop future charges, follow the cancellation steps on that page.
    3. Request a refund for a Microsoft subscription
      • Use the instructions in How to get a refund on a Microsoft subscription to see if the charge is eligible for a refund based on Microsoft’s refund policies and your country/region.
      • If eligible, complete the refund request as described there.
    4. If the charge is unrecognized or you cannot find an account
      • Use How to investigate a billing charge from Microsoft to confirm whether the charge is tied to any of your Microsoft accounts.
      • If you still cannot match the charge or you believe the account is not yours, contact Microsoft Support directly so an agent can review the billing on their side:
        • Go to Contact Microsoft Support, enter the billing problem, select Get Help, then choose Contact Support (chat or call-back) for billing.

If the card used has been closed or replaced, refunds are still generally sent back to the original payment method; the bank or card issuer can confirm how they will credit it.
