    @Edu Qariz

Thank you for reaching out. I understand how frustrating it can be when your Azure for Students credits are getting rejected even though your GitHub Student Developer Pack is verified. I’d like to clarify why this happens and guide you on the recommended steps to resolve it.

Even if your GitHub Student Developer Pack is approved, Azure performs an independent eligibility verification before activating the Azure for Students subscription. In most cases, rejections occur due to one of the following reasons:

    • You are signing in with a work or school account instead of a personal Microsoft account (MSA)
    • The email address used in Azure does not match the verified email on your GitHub account
    • There is an existing Azure subscription already associated with your Microsoft account
    • The academic verification sync between GitHub and Azure did not complete successfully

This behavior is expected and documented, as Azure for Students is only available to new Azure customers using a personal Microsoft account and requires successful academic verification.

Please follow the steps below carefully, as these have helped resolve similar cases:

    1. Use a personal Microsoft account (MSA) Ensure you are signing in with a personal account (for example, Outlook.com, Hotmail.com). Azure for Students does not support work or school accounts.
    2. Ensure email consistency between GitHub and Microsoft The email address linked to your GitHub Student Developer Pack must be added and verified on your Microsoft account. Mismatched emails often cause eligibility failures.
    3. Confirm you don’t have an existing Azure subscription If your Microsoft account already has an Azure subscription (including trials), you won’t be eligible for Azure for Students.
    4. Retry activation using a private/incognito browser Clear browser cache or use an Incognito/Private window to avoid cached authentication issues, then activate Azure for Students from the official link below.
    5. Activate Azure for Students from the official page Use the official Azure for Students signup page and sign in using the same Microsoft account linked to GitHub. https://azure.microsoft.com/free/students.

If the issue persists even after following the above steps, please feel free to comment back with the details you have tried so far. We’ll be happy to review the case further and assist you.

Thank you for your patience, and we look forward to helping you get started with Azure.

    Thanks.

    Hello @Edu Qariz,

If your applications for Azure credits are being rejected despite correct submissions, there are a few common issues to check:

    1. Account Type: Ensure you are using a personal Microsoft Account (MSA) to apply for the credits. If you are signed in with a work or school account, you need to switch to an MSA, as the startup credit offer is only available for new Azure customers using an MSA.
    2. Existing Subscription: Confirm that you do not have an existing Azure subscription. If you already have one, you will not be eligible for the startup credit offer.
    3. Verification Process: If you are applying for additional credits after the initial $1,000, ensure that your business is verified. Verification can only be submitted once per startup, so make sure all your information is complete and accurate before submitting.
    4. Eligibility Requirements: For Azure for Students, you must verify your academic status through your institution’s email address. Make sure you meet the eligibility criteria, including being a full-time student at an accredited institution.
