Hello, i tried talking to support but it is just a bot and cannot contact a real person - TLDR :

Tried for the first time since skype closed to use microsoft teams and it made me choose with a prompt the first time only : use current profile or skype and i picked wrong one and cannot restore my old skype contacts now.

The support bot on microsoft site claims that it is not deleted and gone , my old skype info i mean, but it will always default to the profile i chose and to contact - Privacy Department Microsoft or Data protection Officer.

I have no idea how to contact e-mail or chat with human instead of bot and how to fix that, tried logging on browser, phone app and other browser but Microsoft Teams always defaults to the wrong profile i picked and no prompt to pick right skype account ever again, my contacts gone.

Open this link in your browser using the InPrivate mode:

    https://teams.live.com/v2/

Sign now in with exactly the same credentials as you have used with Skype. If you have used a legacy Skype Name as the Login ID, use the same Login ID for Teams.

Note however the forthcoming changes to the old Skype history which will affect users who transferred to Teams later than December 1 2025.

Please, read the explanation provided in this support article under the heading: "Updates to Skype chat and call history in Teams Free"

It seems that you are facing issues with Microsoft Teams defaulting to the wrong account and losing access to your old Skype contacts. Unfortunately, once you select an account in Teams, it may not prompt you again to choose a different one. According to the context, Skype contacts do not transfer to Teams, and if your Skype account is closed, the contacts may not be accessible through Teams.

To resolve your issue, you might need to contact Microsoft support directly. Although the support bot is often the first point of contact, you can try the following steps to reach a human representative:

    1. Visit the Microsoft support website and look for options to contact support.
    2. You can also try calling the customer service numbers provided by Microsoft for direct assistance.
    3. If you are unable to find a way to speak with a live agent, consider posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum for further guidance from the community or moderators.

Unfortunately, without more specific guidance from Microsoft, it may be challenging to restore your old Skype contacts if they are not visible in Teams.
