While my email signature was fine previously it had now suddenly switched to 1.5 spacing

I programmed my email signature several years ago, and it was working fine until today, when it is suddenly reading at 1.5 spacing and also has doubled some of the wording on the bottom.

I checked the signature on the from the settings itself and it looks fine there. It is only when it is automatically inserting and sending does this spacing and copying glitch happen.

What is happening? And what is the best way to amend it?

    Hi @Christin

Thank you for posting your question in the Q&A Forum.

It appears that the recent updates in New Outlook for Mac have updated how signatures from previous versions are rendered, which can occasionally affect line spacing and cause text duplication.

To ensure your signature displays with consistent single spacing and to remove any redundant text, we recommend a quick refresh of your signature settings:

    • Refresh the Formatting: Copy your current signature and paste it into TextEdit (set to Format > Make Plain Text) to strip away any outdated HTML tags. Then, copy and paste this clean text back into your Outlook Signature settings.
    • Use Soft Returns: When re-formatting, use Shift + Return instead of just Return. This creates a single line break, preventing the app from defaulting to 1.5 paragraph spacing.
    • Clear Duplicates: If you continue to see duplicated lines, try removing the signature entirely from your settings, restart Outlook, and then add the refreshed version again.

Please feel free to update the thread and let us know if these adjustments help with the spacing.

The issue you're experiencing with your email signature displaying at 1.5 spacing and duplicating text may be related to how the signature is formatted or how it interacts with the email client. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and amend the issue:

    1. Check for Special Characters: Sometimes, special characters in the signature can cause formatting issues. Ensure that your signature does not contain any special characters that could affect its appearance.
    2. Recreate the Signature: If the signature appears fine in settings but not when sent, try recreating the signature from scratch. This can help eliminate any hidden formatting issues.
    3. Keep It Simple: Simplify your signature by using basic text formatting. Avoid complex styles that may not render correctly across different email clients.
    4. Test Sending: After making changes, send a test email to yourself or a colleague to see if the issue persists.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider checking for updates to your Outlook application, as sometimes bugs are fixed in newer versions.
