Using SharePoint app -> MS Forms on Android doesn't allow pictures

For my company I made a SharePoint site. It works quite well but since the start of using it I have a problem.

I use the site for many different kinds of information sharing for colleagues. Two of them are QSHE workplace inspections and incident reports. The site is basicly a platform with all kinds of links. These links are just to different kinds of MS forms which after filling in fill up Microsoft Lists, Powerautomate and more. For both the workplace inspections and incidents reports I encourage them to include pictures in these forms to have proof.

The problem I have is that when I go to the SharePoint Android App and I, or my colleagues, try to add pictures to these forms the form just dissapears and it goes back to the latest SharePoint page. There is no way to upload any pictures. This goes for both a Galaxy S24 as a Galaxy Tab S10 Lite 5G.

When I open the website by typing companyname.sharepoint.com all of these forms have no problems at all and I can freely add any pictures.

For nearly 3 years I've been thinking this problem persists through all SharePoint app because several colleagues have reported this problem to me. To them I always say delete the app and use the website. Yet.. today I found out a colleague with an Apple iPhone and an Apple iPad can use the app and add pictures without any problems at all.

Is this a specific Android problem, SharePoint problem or maybe even SharePoint/Forms interaction?

I personally prefer Android devices but only this would already consider me switching for atleast work related devices.

Thanks in advance!

    Hello Quincy Vreman,

on Android the SharePoint app often drops a Form the moment it tries to open the camera. it just can’t keep the session alive, even though the form itself is fine. using the browser avoids that handoff completely, so photo uploads work the way they’re supposed to. nothing wrong with your setup… it’s the Android client that stumbles here.

    Hi Quincy Vreman

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A

Based on my research, this issue is a known limitation of the SharePoint mobile app on Android. Microsoft’s support page for the Forms web part clearly states “The Microsoft Forms web part is not available in SharePoint mobile app”.

In other words, embedding a Form (especially one with file upload fields) on a SharePoint page is not supported on the mobile app

    User's image

    Link document: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/use-the-microsoft-forms-web-part-on-a-sharepoint-site-d4b4d3ce-7860-41e4-8a98-76380efe7256

Given this, to work around this issue, I recommend the following approaches:

    1. Access the SharePoint site and Microsoft Forms using a mobile browser instead of the SharePoint Android app.
    2. Alternatively, embed the form using the Microsoft Forms web part on the SharePoint page. Note, however, that the Forms web part is not supported in the SharePoint mobile app, so this method is best suited for desktop or browser-based access.

    Hope this help
