Hi, tocguy
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.
Thanks for your question. What you’re seeing in Settings > Windows Update > Update history is just a log of what Windows installed at some point, not a list of updates that are still “present” or uninstallable. Windows doesn’t provide a supported way to delete only the Office-related entries from that history, even after Office is removed.
Here are some suggestions you can try to resolve this issue:
1) Make sure Office is actually scrubbed
If your goal is “no Office remnants that could interfere with reinstall,” don’t chase Update history entries. Run Microsoft’s official Office removal scenario (it removes leftover components that normal uninstall can miss).
Open Command Prompt as Administrator, then run:
SaRAcmd.exe -S OfficeScrubScenario -AcceptEula -OfficeVersion All
Reboot after it finishes.
This is the cleanest way to prevent Windows Update or installers from detecting old Office components.
2) If you only want the “Update history” list cleared
This does not remove installed updates, it only clears the history view by resetting the local update datastore.
Run Command Prompt as Administrator:
net stop wuauserv
del C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\Logs\edb.log
If the entries still show, do the full datastore wipe:
net stop wuauserv
del /f /q C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\DataStore.edb
rmdir /s /q C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\Logs
net start wuauserv
``
That should blank the Update history list (until new updates are installed).
3) Install the correct Office architecture cleanly
After the SaRA scrub (Solution 1), install your intended 32-bit Office. If you’re using an MSI-based Office ISO, install normally. If it’s Click-to-Run, use the correct 32-bit installer for that product line.
Hope this helps. Feel free to get back if you need further assistance.
