How to permanently disable Chart Styles in Excel

When opening larger excel files with a chart containing thousands of data points, it takes several MINUTES to open the file, because the Chart Styles are loading with all the possible styles for that particular chart.

I tried removing Chart Styles from the ribbon, but now when I open the file, it freezes and crashes, instead of just taking several minutes to open.

I'm using Miscosoft Office 365

This is the most effective way to stop Excel from trying to "pre-render" chart styles.

    Go to File > Options.

On the General tab, look for User Interface options.

Uncheck the box for Enable Live Preview.

    Click OK.

Why this helps: This stops Excel from generating those thumbnails in the Ribbon and the floating "paintbrush" icon next to charts, which is likely what is causing your several-minute hang.
