When I try to add a new account - I choose "Outlook.com". It asked me to sign in and sends a verification code to my email. I enter the code and it takes me back to "add accounts" screen.

If you're unable to add your new Outlook.com email to your iPhone Mail app and are facing issues with the verification code, here are some detailed troubleshooting steps you can follow:

    1. Ensure Correct Account Type: When adding the account, make sure you select "Outlook.com" as the account type. This is important for the correct configuration.
    2. Check Internet Connection: Ensure that your iPhone is connected to a stable internet connection, either through Wi-Fi or cellular data. A weak connection can cause issues during the setup process.
    3. Re-enter Account Details: Go back to the Mail app and attempt to add the account again. Make sure you enter your email address and password correctly. Sometimes, a simple typo can lead to issues.
    4. Check for Verification Code Issues: If you receive a verification code but it takes you back to the "add accounts" screen after entering it, try the following:
      • Wait a Moment: Sometimes there can be a delay in the process. Wait a few moments before trying again.
      • Use a Different Device: If possible, try to log in to your Outlook.com account on a different device or through a web browser to ensure that your account is functioning correctly.
    5. Clear Browser Data: If you are trying to reset your password or verify your account through a web browser, clear your browser data or use InPrivate mode to avoid any cached data issues.
    6. Try a Different Network: If you are using Wi-Fi, switch to your mobile data or try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network. Network issues can sometimes interfere with account setup.
    7. Update iOS: Ensure that your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS. Sometimes, software updates can fix bugs that may be causing issues with account setup.
    8. Contact Microsoft Support: If none of the above steps work, you may need to contact Microsoft Support for further assistance. They can help troubleshoot the issue more effectively.

Following these steps should help you successfully add your Outlook.com email to your iPhone Mail app. If you continue to experience issues, it may be a good idea to check for any known outages or issues with Outlook services.

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

To help narrow down the issue:

    1. Have you already tried restarting the iPhone and then adding the account again?
    2. Did you try resetting the Mail app settings (for example, removing any existing Outlook/Hotmail accounts first and then re-adding them)?

As a quick workaround, I’d also suggest downloading the Outlook app from the App Store and signing in there to see if it works correctly https://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-365/outlook-mobile-for-android-and-ios If it signs in fine in the Outlook app, that usually confirms the account itself is OK and the issue is specific to the iOS Mail app setup.

If the issue persists, please provide more details by answering my questions.
