How to retrieve misplaced sections in OneNote that were lost after notebook not syncing?

I have 4 or 5 sections/pages that were lost due to my OneNote not syncing and I am unable to find the misplaced sections that previously entailed those sections. Please let me know if there is a way to retrieve them. They are not deleted or on the Microsoft 365 online website.

    Hi @Lea Sakakine

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Forum.

From your description, I understand that the sections went missing after a sync issue and cannot be found in misplaced sections, deleted items, or on the Microsoft 365 website.

Since you mentioned checking the Microsoft 365 website, could you please confirm whether you checked OneNote there only, or if you also checked your OneDrive on the web?

If you have not checked OneDrive yet, please sign in to OneDrive on the web using the same account you use in OneNote, check whether your sections appear there, and also review the OneDrive Recycle Bin.

If you had backups enabled previously, please open OneNote for Mac and go to OneNote > Preferences > Backup to check the backup location. If any recent automatic backups are available, you can open them in OneNote or copy the relevant sections into your current notebook.

If you have already tried all the steps above but still cannot find the sections, then unfortunately they were likely lost before they could be synced and are no longer recoverable.

I know this may not be the outcome you were expecting, and I appreciate your patience and understanding.
