All students not showing on list of current students to be added individually to an Assignment

I had set up a Teams page with 6 students added. I added them to an assignment which I had set to adding them as individual rather than all current students. I did this as I know future students will be joining the class so I want to limit what they can see has already been covered. There are 8 new students in the class and I have added them to the Teams page. I want them to complete the assignment the previous group have done. When I try to set this up and add the individual students to the assignment only the original 6 appear on the list? If I set it up for all current students all 14 are there.

    Thank you for reaching out regarding the issue where newly added students are not appearing in the list when assigning an existing assignment individually. 

    This behavior occurs because when you select Individual students during assignment creation, Teams locks that list to the students present at that time. Newly added students are not automatically included unless a specific setting is enabled. In this case, please try the following steps: 

    Enable Past Assignments for New Students 

    • Go to your Class Team > Assignments. 
    • Click the Settings icon in the upper-right corner. 
    • Turn on “New students will receive assignments created before they joined the class.”

    Edit the Existing Assignment 

    • Open the assignment > click ⋯ More > Edit. 
    • Under Assign to, select Individual students. 
    • You should now see all current students (including the new ones). 
    • Select the students you want and click Update.

    If students still don't appear, please try using Teams on the Web to edit the assignment, as the web version often refreshes rosters faster. 

    Then, remove and re-add the new students to the Team, then wait a few minutes for synchronization.
