Hi, Abdulrazak Abyad

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thanks for your question. Microsoft supports Microsoft 365 apps on the three most recent macOS versions. As Apple releases new macOS versions, support for the oldest one is removed; this change affected update delivery and new installs after late 2025. The current OneDrive installer prompts for macOS 13+, so you must use a previous OneDrive .pkg that still supports Monterey.

Here are some workarounds you can try on your iMac:

1) Cleanly remove any existing OneDrive

  • Quit OneDrive (OneDrive cloud icon > Quit OneDrive).
  • If you installed from the Mac App Store, uninstall it there. (Microsoft’s guidance: remove the Store app before installing the standalone sync app.)
  • Delete residual folders:
    • ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.OneDrive*
    • ~/Library/Group Containers/com.microsoft.OneDrive*
    • ~/Library/Application Support/OneDrive
  • Restart your Mac.

This avoids “stuck” upgrade prompts and corrupt sync state.

2) Install a Monterey‑compatible OneDrive build

Tip: The version number is part of the URL. You can substitute another version listed in the OneDrive Release Notes if needed.

3) Prevent auto‑update to a non‑supported build

  • Open OneDrive > Settings > About and disable automatic updates (if the toggle is present), or keep the app blocked from updating via your admin tool.
  • Avoid signing into the Mac App Store version (it auto‑updates); stick to the standalone .pkg.

4) Sign in and re‑enable Finder integration

Launch OneDrive, sign in, and enable Finder integration during setup.

Hope this helps. Feel free to get back if you need further assistance.
