How to centralize company contacts on managed phones in Microsoft 365 / Intune

Hello,

In our organization, we issue company-managed phones to all employees and manage them via Intune.

Currently, employees store each other’s phone numbers locally on their devices. The problem is that when someone leaves the company, their phone number may get reused for a new employee, but the old number remains on other users’ phones, causing confusion.

We are looking for a way to centralize company contacts, so that:

Admins can update phone numbers in one place.

Updates are automatically reflected on all employees’ devices.

Old or reassigned numbers are removed automatically.

Role-based access control is possible (certain contacts only visible to specific employees or departments).

All devices are corporate-managed and enrolled in Intune, so we are looking for a solution that works for iOS and Android corporate devices.

Is there a supported way to achieve this in Microsoft 365?

Thank you!

    Hello @Akash Aravindan,

You can enable Outlook for iOS and Android to sync mailbox contacts to the device’s native Contacts app using Intune App Protection Policies and Outlook app configuration (for example, enabling Save Contacts and allowing managed app data to sync with native apps). However, if contacts are saved locally, they are no longer managed by Intune—Intune can’t update, remove, or lifecycle those contacts centrally.

    Refer to:

    Hope this helps!
