Double-click a word and drag to highlight does not work on OneNote!

So the way this is supposed to work is that you double-click a word, then while still holding, you drag a section of text and then you're highlighting that section. If you try it literally on any program on your computer, it will work. Except on OneNote! WHY!!! I do this so much that it messes with my work-flow in unimaginable ways. I cannot stand it.

I am using Macbook Air, M4. It's the Microsoft OneNote for Mac, version 16.103.4. It is an educational subscription, so I don't know if that changes it.

I can do this functionality on outlook, on powerpoint, on word, microsoft edge, etc. I dont know why I can't do it here...

    I'm not sure why it takes extensive paragraphs to explain that OneNote simply does not have the same array of editing features found in other text based programs. In particular, it lacks most of the techniques for extending a selection.

    The most effective alternative is to place the insertion point at one end of the passage then hold the Shift key while clicking at the opposite end — no dragging involved. You may even find that to be a preferable technique.
