Thanks for sharing the details, heather! If you entered the wrong email when searching or starting a chat, Teams does not save contacts locally the way Messenger or Viber does. So you cannot edit an email. Instead, you must start a new chat with the correct email.

Open Teams Web → https://teams.microsoft.com
On the left side, click Chat
At the top, click New Chat (icon with a pencil)
In the To: field, type the correct email address
Select the correct user from the dropdown
Start the chat

If you chatted with the wrong email, the old chat will still appear, but you can:

Right-click the chat
Choose Hide or Delete (if available)
