If you are experiencing issues with upgrading from Windows 11 Home to Windows 11 Pro using the product key, here are some steps you can take:

    1. Verify the Product Key: Ensure that the product key you received is correct and corresponds specifically to Windows 11 Pro. Sometimes, a simple typo can cause activation issues.
    2. Use the Correct Upgrade Method: You can upgrade your edition of Windows by entering the product key manually. To do this:
      • Right-click on the Start menu and select Run.
      • In the Run window, type ms-settings:activation and press OK.
      • Select Change product key and enter your Windows 11 Pro product key.
      • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the upgrade.
    3. Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your current version of Windows 11 Home is fully updated. Sometimes, pending updates can interfere with the upgrade process.
    4. Contact Microsoft Support: If the product key still does not work, it may be best to contact Microsoft support for assistance. They can verify your purchase and help resolve any issues related to the product key.
    5. Consider Clean Installation: If all else fails, you might consider performing a clean installation of Windows 11 Pro using the installation media, which can be created using the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft. Make sure to back up your data before proceeding with this option.

Following these steps should help you successfully upgrade to Windows 11 Pro.

    Good morning High Locks,

The upgrade failure from Windows 11 Home to Pro using your product key typically stems from key validation issues or system configuration conflicts. First, confirm the product key is entered exactly as provided, without hyphens or spaces, in the Activation settings under Change product key.

If the key is correct but rejected, check that your current Windows 11 Home installation is fully updated through Windows Update, as pending updates can block edition upgrades. Also, verify that the product key is for the same region or market as your system locale, as regional mismatches cause activation failures.

Should the issue persist, the product key may be flagged in Microsoft's system due to purchase verification delays or prior use. Contact Microsoft Support directly with your order number and purchase date for expedited resolution; they can validate the key and push activation from their end. Avoid a clean installation unless necessary, as it requires data backup and reinstalling applications, which is inefficient for a simple edition upgrade.
