how can i take back my original latest file

I was doing my homework in iPad. When I was typing, Microsoft Word lagged. I could not use any button, so I screened out. When I came back, the file had lost more than half of my words. How can I get back my words?

First, could you confirm: Was the document saved to OneDrive, Teams Classwork, or stored locally on your iPad? And did you have AutoSave turned on in Word?

In the meantime, here are some steps you can try:

1. Check Version History (if saved online):

Open Word > File > Info > Version History > select the version you need > Restore or Open.

2. Look for AutoRecovered files:

Go to File > Recent > check for AutoRecovered versions.

3. Check OneDrive or Teams:

Sign in > find your file > select Version History > restore the version with your missing content.

To avoid this next time: turn on AutoSave when working on OneDrive or Teams, keep your internet stable, update Word, and save manually after big edits.

Please note that: if the document was never saved or synced to OneDrive, Teams Classwork, or another cloud service, and AutoSave was turned off, Word cannot create a backup or version history. When the app freezes and closes before saving, any unsaved changes remain only in temporary memory, which is cleared when the app shuts down.

To recover your lost words in Microsoft Word on your iPad, you can try the following steps:
