How to stop incoming Teams call to phone bypassing bluetooth headphones and playing phone audio through speakers?

Whenever a Teams calls comes into my phone (Samsung S22 Ultra), it bypasses my bluetooth headphones and plays whatever I'm listening to very loudly via the phone speakers. I spend much of my work day listening to music/audiobooks/podcasts while I work on bluetooth headphones in my shared office space, so whenever I receive an incoming call, the audio of whatever I'm listening to will play at a very high volume out of my phone speakers as the phone is ringing which is both embarrassing and disruptive to my colleagues. I am unable to see/find a setting to fix this, so I have to sign out of my teams on my phone while in the office to prevent this - but this is meaning I am missing calls I could otherwise take while away from my desk as I forget to sign back in. Is there a setting or process I can use to solve this issue?

    Hi @Natalie,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for contacting us. We understand that you want to receive Teams call notifications directly through your Bluetooth headset instead of the external speaker. Please follow these steps:

Go to your phone’s Settings: Settings > Sounds and Vibration > Separate App Sound > Audio Device, then select Bluetooth Device.

To prevent incoming Teams calls from bypassing your Bluetooth headphones and playing audio through your phone speakers, you can try the following steps:

    1. Check Bluetooth Connection: Ensure that your Bluetooth headphones are properly connected to your Samsung S22 Ultra. Sometimes, re-pairing the device can help.
    2. Adjust Teams Settings: In the Teams app, navigate to Settings > Devices. Ensure that your Bluetooth headphones are selected as the audio device for both the speaker and the microphone.
    3. Disable Phone Audio: Some devices have settings that allow you to control how calls are handled. Check if there is an option to disable phone audio during calls or to ensure that Bluetooth is prioritized.
    4. Update Teams and Device Software: Make sure that both the Teams app and your phone's operating system are up to date, as updates can fix bugs related to audio routing.
    5. Use Do Not Disturb Mode: If you are in a shared office space, consider using the Do Not Disturb mode during work hours to prevent calls from interrupting your audio.

If the issue persists, you may want to reach out to Microsoft support for further assistance, as there could be specific compatibility issues with your device and the Teams app.
