    Hello @megan smith,

Good day! Thank you for posting your valuable question on Microsoft Q&A forum.

We are currently aware of an ongoing service issue impacting the Assignments app in Microsoft Teams for certain Education (EDU) tenants located in the Europe region. This issue may cause assignments to remain in a loading state and fail to open as expected.

If you are in the affected region, please note the following:

    • Summary of Impact: A service degradation in Microsoft Teams is preventing some admins from opening or loading assignments and grades. The issue affects Education (EDU) tenants in the Europe region, specifically impacting the Assignments app.
    • Impact Time: Start: November 12, 2025, 09:12 AM UTC
    • Scope of Impact: Limited to EDU admins in the United Kingdom and Netherlands who are attempting to access assignments and grades in Microsoft Teams.
    • Action Taken: The engineering team is investigating by reviewing telemetry and support data. Targeted mitigations are being applied, and backend components are being restarted to reduce impact.
    • Contributing Factors: Root cause is under investigation, with focus on infrastructure issues affecting EDU tenants in Europe.
    • Next Steps: Continue applying mitigations and provide updates as new information becomes available.

If you are not located in Europe, please let me know, and I’ll be happy to assist you with troubleshooting steps tailored to your situation.

We understand the importance of uninterrupted access to Assignments for educators and students, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Our engineering teams are working diligently to restore full functionality as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work toward a resolution. We will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available.

If your assignments in Microsoft Teams are not loading and are stuck in a constant loading state, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check Your Internet Connection: Ensure that you have a stable internet connection. Sometimes, connectivity issues can prevent Teams from loading properly.
    2. Clear Browser Cache: If you are using Teams in a web browser, clearing the cache can help resolve loading issues. Go to your browser settings and clear the cache and cookies.
    3. Use a Different Browser: If the problem persists, try accessing Teams using a different web browser to see if the issue is browser-specific.
    4. Update Browser Settings: Make sure that the URLs for Microsoft Teams are added to your browser's trusted sites. This is especially important if you are using browsers like Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. You can refer to the specific settings for each browser to add the necessary URLs.
    5. Disable Browser Extensions: Sometimes, browser extensions can interfere with Teams. Try disabling any extensions you have installed and see if that resolves the issue.
    6. Check for Service Outages: Occasionally, Microsoft Teams may experience service outages. Check the Microsoft 365 Service Health status to see if there are any ongoing issues with Teams.
    7. Contact Support: If none of the above steps work, consider reaching out to your IT support team or Microsoft support for further assistance.

These steps should help you troubleshoot the issue with your assignments not loading in Teams.

    Hello @megan smith and everyone,

Thank you for your patience and for reporting the issue.

Here’s the latest update on the service incident:

    • Current Status: Service has been fully restored. The incident occurred between 08:09 and 15:30 UTC on November 12, 2025.
    • Impact: EDU tenants in the Europe region experienced issues opening or loading assignments and grades in Teams.
    • What Happened: A failure in a subsection of infrastructure serving EDU users caused temporary service degradation. Engineering applied targeted mitigations, restarted backend components, scaled additional infrastructure, and adjusted configurations to restore service.
    • Next Steps: Microsoft engineering is reviewing contributing factors and will publish a Post‑Incident Report (PIR) summarizing the root cause and prevention measures.

    If you still experience issues:

If problems persist, please create a new Q&A thread in this forum so we can investigate your specific scenario. Root causes often vary by environment, account type, add-ins, and recent changes. A dedicated thread helps avoid cross‑signals and speeds up troubleshooting.

We sincerely apologize for the disruption and appreciate your understanding.
